Learn more about the CEFR Levels
What is CEFR Levels
The CEFR, or Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, stands among various frameworks delineating language proficiency. Other frameworks with akin objectives comprise the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages Proficiency Guidelines (ACTFL), the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB), and the Interagency Language Roundtable scale (ILR).
Initially tailored as a European scale applicable to all European languages, the CEFR is progressively evolving into a global standard for gauging language competencies, notably in European languages like English. Not bound to any particular language examination, the CEFR is increasingly integrated into standardized language tests, which often furnish CEFR level equivalencies.
Who uses the CEFR
The CEFR is used extensively in language teaching, both in the public education sector and in private language schools. In many countries, it has replaced previous leveling systems used in foreign language teaching. Most education ministries in Europe have an explicit CEFR-based goal for all students leaving secondary school, for example, B2 in their first foreign language, and B1 in their second. For job seekers, many European adults use a standardized test score, like the IELTS to describe their English level.
Adoption of the CEFR is also growing outside Europe, with some individual countries in Asia and Latin America adopting it in their education systems.
How can I find out my CEFR level?
The best way to find out your CEFR level is to take a well-designed standardized test. In English, our Assessment tests (Netcom System) are the best choice fully aligned to the CEFR evaluation.
Most common English assessment tests now provide the CEFR equivalency such as IELTS Test.
How to get started?
In most cases, all students are required to take the Assessment Test to evaluate their level. The students will be placed in the right level which consists of 40 hours per level. There will be knowledge and practical tests before the end of the course. Students will receive International Certificates per Level completed
